A FILM FEST OPEN TO EVERYONE
The Social Short Film Fest (SSFF) aims to recognize films which deal with social issues in a very concise and real way. The SSFF highlights films that have an outstanding writing, directing and acting.

This festival was thought to be open to the community, so our main goal is not to be a glamorous film festival, but a film event that reaches school community and other entities of social interest. We want to people think about what's going on around them.

We are interested to screen subjects like unemployment, poor housing, stereotypes and prejudices, crime, homophobia, social exclusion, bullying, bad health, teenage pregnancy and family breakdown. These themes deal with the people relationships and the disrespect of the human rights.

The SSFF is open to receive short films from all over the world and pay tribute to their magnificent achievement. The screening of the award nominees and award winning short films will take place at Barreiro Film Society in Portugal, but it may be screened at other venues such as schools, municipal auditoriums and non-governmental organizations which are related with the subjects we are looking for.

As a film festival our selection criteria is strict in relation to the dramatic and cinematic quality, since this is a festival that rewards the best films which are in competition.
